Meningococcal infection of deceased young man in South Kazakhstan region confirmed

Astana. June 19. KazTAG - Doctors confirmed that the resident of the South Kazakhstan region who died on June 15 had meningococcal infection, reports the press service of the Ministry of Health Care of Kazakhstan.
"In the Republic of Kazakhstan, since the beginning of 2018, 62 confirmed cases of meningococcal infection have been registered, of which 7 are hospitalized, 42 people have been discharged, 13 cases have been fatal: Almaty - 6 cases, Almaty region - 3 cases, South Kazakhstan region- 3 cases and 1 case in Kyzylorda region," reports the Ministry of Health Care.
2 people were hoslitalized in the Almaty region on June 17 and 1 on June 18  with suspected meningococcal infection. The diagnosis has not been confirmed yet. Laboratory research is underway.
