Almaty. June 21. KazTAG - The Parliament of Macedonia has ratified the treaty with Greece to rename the country, RBK reports.
"According to Balkaninsight, 69 members of parliament (out of 120 seats) voted for the agreement with Greece at the plenary session. The opposition Democratic Party for Macedonian National Unity left the Parliament in protest and did not take part in the ratification procedure, " reads the report.
After the ratification of the treaty, the document will be submitted to the signature of the President of the Republic who earlier stated that he would refuse to sign it because of the contradiction with the Constitution.
As it was reported, the agreement on renaming of the country was concluded between the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Greece and Macedonia on June 12 in the Greek village of Psarades. The agreement provides for the renaming of the former Yugoslav Republic into the Republic of Northern Macedonia.
