Kazakhtelecom must pay state special dividends from sale of the company - expert

Astana. January 22. KazTAG - Kazakhtelecom JSC must pay the state special dividends from the sale of the company, said Rasul Rysmambetov, financial consultant.
"A couple of days ago, journalists contacted me with the question if Kazakhtelecom is supposed to pay special dividends from the sale of the company. I'm ashamed to admit - I hadn't even heard. I read it and it's clear that the company must pay the dividends," Rysmambetov wrote on his Telegram channel.
He emphasized that when KazMunayGas was sold to the National Bank, they sent $1 billion to the budget through dividends.
"I don't yet understand what kind of game is going on around dividends from the sale of a state-owned company - some think it should, some think that the money from the sale should be left in the parent state-owned company," said the financial consultant.
He believes that the state budget will be a priority for dividend payments from the sale.
"It can be assumed that over the long years of its existence (since its foundation in 1994), Kazakhtelecom has received significant assistance from the state: from tax breaks to state guarantees. Paying dividends is an opportunity to return part of these investments to the state and direct funds to socially significant projects," he wrote.
