“There is an international Convention for the Protection of Rare Animals, which includes 183 countries, including Kazakhstan. According to this Convention, our country cannot independently decide on the regulation of the saiga population, although 95% of the population is located on the territory of Kazakhstan. This issue is within the competence of the international community,” said Akim of the West Kazakhstan region Nariman Turegaliyev.
Meanwhile, according to preliminary estimates, the population of the Ural saiga population has already exceeded 1.5 million heads.
