“Last year, trade turnover between Kazakhstan and China reached a historical record of $41 billion. In 2023, the volume of cargo transportation between the countries increased by 22%, amounting to almost 30 million tons,” Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev previously cited the data.
In fact, this is not the only example of China’s successful foreign economic policy - for example, in the first two months of 2024, the total foreign trade turnover of the Central Kingdom amounted to $930.8 billion, of which more than half came from Chinese exports in the amount of $528 billion. The world is extremely dependent on the success of Chinese industry, and this dependence continues to grow, and given the geopolitical situation, many countries already need products from China like air. Likewise, Chinese investment is vital for many countries - its total volume outside the country in 2023 amounted to almost 917 billion yuan, which is about 17% higher in comparison to the previous year. In this area, it is especially worth noting Beijing’s investments in countries along the Belt and Road, which exceeded $31 billion over the year – an increase of 28.44% year on year. The Chinese yuan has also been strengthening its position, increasingly displacing the US dollar and the euro as the base currency.
“Over the past two years, the role of the US dollar and the euro in the Russian market has consistently declined. This is the result of a redirection of trade flows to the East and a change in the currency of settlements to rubles, yuan and other currencies of friendly countries. The share of the yuan in trading on the Moscow Exchange in May was 54%. Thus, the yuan has already become the main currency in the exchange trading. The yuan/ruble exchange rate will set the trajectory for other currency pairs and will become a reference point for the market participants,” said the Central Bank of Russia, the largest country in the world, on June 13.
As a result, the transition to the yuan as the base currency was followed by the cessation of the fall in the value of the Russian ruble, and then its consistent growth, which continues up to this day.
Experts are unanimous on one thing - the secret of the Chinese economic miracle lies both in the strength of the yuan, and in the stability of the political system, China's openness to technology and the attractiveness of the Chinese market as an industrial and technological base, flexibility in matters of economic reform, Beijing's focus on creation and consistency of export policy, intolerance of the entire Chinese society towards corruption, as well as the enormous inexhaustible diligence of the Chinese people.
At the same time, China has one of the strongest armies in the world, behind which the people of the Middle Kingdom feel like behind the Great Wall of China, which allows the country’s residents to work peacefully and contribute to well-being of their homeland, and along with it their personal well-being. At the same time, Beijing adheres to a peace-loving policy and is one of the five permanent members of the UN Security Council, always consistently acting as a guarantor of the world peace.
At the same time, China is famous for its culture, sports achievements, science, medicine, as well as the famous Chinese cinema - for example, it is difficult to overestimate the role of Chinese martial arts, without which it is no longer possible to imagine most modern Western, including Hollywood blockbusters.
It’s amazing how one of the most ancient civilizations, a country with an official history of 5 thousand years, not only did not fade into oblivion, as it happened with most of the greatest civilizations of the mankind, but for thousands of years continues to remain one of the main forces on the world arena. China has not only confidently kept up with the times throughout its history, but also sets the trends that the whole world follows.
