Dozens of Chinese students stayed in Kazakhstan for summer holidays because of apprehension of political prosecution

Almaty. August 15. KazTAG - Dozens of Chinese students stayed in Kazakhstan for summer holidays in fear of political prosecution on the motherland, reports Radio Azattyq.
"Approximately 80 university students among ethnic Kazakh remained in Kazakhstan for summer holidays on the background of messages about mass detentions in Xinjiang and people's delivery to the centers of political reeducation," reads the message.
They live in the dorm in Almaty rented by the local activists.
"I passed preparation course for the university named after Korkyt ata. Then I arrived to pass the complex test in KazNU named after al-Farabi. I wanted to enter the designers' faculty, but I did not get enough scores. Now I am called to China. They said there is law and I must arrive every 6 months. I did not reply to them. Then they addressed to my parents," said Kausar Armiya kyzy, Kazakh native from China.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan said that 88 students from China who went there on holidays have not returned to Kazakhstan.
