Astana is losing its "capital’s gloss" - Tokayev

Astana. February 1. KazTAG - Astana is losing its "capital’s gloss", said Kassym-Jomart Tokayev ,President of Kazakhstan.
“The next question concerns the improvement of the city. Order must be everywhere. But, unfortunately, the city is losing its "capital’s gloss". Sagging pavement, the lack of lighting - this is today's sad reality. There is a catastrophic lack of rubbish bins along the streets,” Tokayev said at a meeting on the development of Astana.
He noted the poor organization of snow removal work.
“The slightest snowfall literally paralyzes the city. This month, the city actually turned into a real skating rink for several days. At the same time, T45 billion was allocated for the improvement of the city over the past three years. As for the yards: we have them the same. Each yard needs an individual approach. Together with urban experts, architects, residents, we need to create the best solutions. For example, open competitions can be held for the best development of sketches of courtyards and public spaces,” Tokayev said.
