99% of electricity in Kazakhstan sold under non-transparent direct contracts

Astana. June 22. KazTAG - 99% of electricity in Kazakhstan is sold under non-transparent direct contracts, said Serik Zhumangarin, chairman of the agency for protection and development of competition.
“To date, only 1% of electricity is sold at organized auctions. Everything else is under non-transparent direct contracts, ”Zhumangarin said.
According to him, organized trade in electricity will increase to 30% by 2025.
“In addition, we plan to eliminate differentiation in the electricity supply market. All this will give an annual saving of about T20 billion of budgetary funds, T31 billion will be savings for the expenditure side for SMEs and, naturally, housing assistance will increase, according to our calculations, by T720 million, ” he added.
