Prosecutor General's Office filed protest against unfair verdict against the Matayev
Almaty. July 7. KazTAG - The Prosecutor General's Office has filed a protest against the unfair verdict against well-known Kazakhstani journalists Seitkazy and Aset Matayev, said Dzhokhar Utebekov , authoritative Kazakhstani lawyer.
“The Prosecutor General's Office, after a long study of the case, granted my petition! They filed a protest against the unfair verdict of the chairman of the Union of Journalists of Kazakhstan Seitkazy Matayev and his son Aset. There will be a Supreme Court meeting soon. We are waiting for solution!” said Utebekov.
Seitkazy and Aset Matayev were convicted in 2016. The criminal prosecution was accompanied by an attempted raider takeover of the KazTAG agency. The guilt of the Matayev in the case, which was recognized as politically motivated both in Kazakhstan and abroad, was not proven on any of the charges, which, however, did not prevent the Kazakh court from passing a guilty verdict. At the same time, none of the participants in the custom-made persecution of the Matayev has not been punished for this.
