KPO completes new school in WKO

Uralsk. September 1. KazTAG - Karachaganak Petroleum Operating B.V. (KPO) announced that a new secondary school with an emphasis on aesthetics studies in Uralsk was successfully put into operation.
The official ceremony was attended by the administration of the West Kazakhstan Oblast, representatives from Uralsk and WKO educational departments, as well as top management of KPO and contractors.
WKO Akim Gali Iskaliyev said that the KPO social project would reduce the number of triple shift schools in the city.
“The commissioning of the new building ensures that the students will be taught in a modern three storied facility.  The implementation of the KPO project in this area is another step in providing essential social infrastructure for 3,000 residents of the rapidly developing neighbourhood Zhuldyz where more than 500 schoolchildren live,” WKO Akim said.
KPO General Director Edwin Blom congratulated WKO community on the Constitution Day of the Republic of Kazakhstan and said: “Karachaganak Project plays a significant role in social and economic development of the region.  KPO provides full support to the local authorities based on the principles of corporate responsibility while making every effort to gain maximum value from the Karachaganak project to the benefit of the Republic of Kazakhstan and local community.
“This social project is very important and we have made a lot of efforts to implement it working together with the local authorities.  I hope that KPO’s contribution to development of social infrastructure of the region will be appreciated by the local community and the schoolchildren of Uralsk will benefit from the new modern school opened on the eve of the new school year,’ added Edwin Blom.
Three storied building with the overall area of nearly 4500 square meters is designed to accommodate 450 pupils.  The school has 48 classrooms, rooms for computer science, physics, chemistry, biology, language rooms.  The school also boasts a town hall, the gym, amenities, laboratories and workshops.  There is also a library with a reading hall for 40 people, sick bay and canteen for 150 people.  The school will have 80 teachers.
The school with an emphasis on aesthetics studies will provide full-time learning capacity: after completion of normal classes schoolchildren can continue with creative classes focused on research and design.  The education process will be done in dual languages.  Earlier there was no Kazakh language school in the region where schoolchildren could stay during the whole day.
The school has been fully furnished and equipped with computers, and learning materials at KPO’s expense.  Area improvement and landscaping works were also implemented as part of the project.
“The school with an emphasis on aesthetics studies was originally founded in Uralsk in 1994.  Since that time it was located within the premises of the former kindergarten which did not fully comply with applicable teaching standards.  The new school meets all educational requirements.  My colleagues and I would like to thank WKO authorities and KPO management who have prepared such a nice present”, said the school principal Aliya Kairzhanova.
KPO social programme is primarily focused on construction of health, education, infrastructure, cultural and sports facilities.  Projects are selected and prioritized by West Kazakhstan Oblast administration.  Only Kazakh contractors are engaged for implementation of all KPO social projects.
