Kazakhstani experts forecast decline of inflation and base rate in 2018

12.01.2018 Almaty. January 12. KazTAG - Inflation in Kazakhstan will lower to 6.5% this year, base rate- to 9%, reports Halyk Finance Investment Company.
"We expect weakening of inflation to 6.5% in 2018, strengthening of tenge early next year and stabilization of fuel prices in connection with production increase at the modernized refineries will contribute into it. Weak demand caused by reduction of real revenues of population will constrain growth of prices," reports the macroeconomic report of the investment company for Q4 2017.
According to the experts planned reduction of money inflow from the National Fund into the budget and general reduction of budget expenses in respect of GDP will affect the inflation pressure.
The annual inflation is forecasted at 6.5%, the investment company expects that the base rate will keep on declining from 10.25% to 9% in 2018.
"The National Bank will update the base rate on January 15. In our opinion the regulator will be more careful at the next session .... most likely it will not reduce the rate despite inflation slowdown at the end of the year," reads the report.
