No antibiotics treatment developed in SAR for listerellosis, 61 people died

12.01.2018 Almaty. January 12. KazTAG - No antibiotics treatment for listerellosis has been developed in SAR, meanwhile, 61 people have died, reports Rospotrebnadzor (Russian consumer surveillance service).
"According to mass media referring to Health Minister SAR Aaron Motsoaledi, the country faced complicated situation with listerellosis. Since December last year until January 9 2018 727 infection cases have been confirmed, 61 cases have been fatal," the message reports.
The majority of cases have been fixed in the province of Hauten , where a butchery is located and the infection source was found last month. 92 cases have been fixed in Western Cape.
"No antibacterial treatment has been developed," the message said.
Listerellosis is an illness caused by the bacterium Listeria monocytogenes that is acquired by eating contaminated food. The organism can spread to the blood stream and central nervous system. Listerellosis is considered a "food-borne illness" because most people are probably infected after eating food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
